Going Home

Track 10
Music by R. Molema
Lyrics by R. Molema
Inspired & Translated from 'Nooit Meer Slapen' the novel by Willem Frederik Hermans
What was that? Lighting in the sky!
Suddenly!  It caught me by surprise!
Lighting strikes, a heavy noise
Exploding sounds everywhere around me

Echo's of fading heavy sounds
Calming down, It’s quite all around
I climb a hill to look around
But nothing like a fire or a sound

But I don’t pay011  attention to that

‘Cause I’m going home, Where I belong
And I leave this place behind
I’m going home, leaving alone
‘Cause I left my friend behind
The mountains and rain, mosquitos and pain
Attacked me by surprise
But I did survive them
I should be proud

I'm walking on,  no time to hesitate
‘bout what I saw, I  ’s anyway to late
It’s quiet all around me now
It’s only me who’s making here the sounds

Sound of footsteps, I struggle through the woods
They’re hurting me, It doesn’t feel so good
I’m glad I’m going home today
At least there is a shelter I can stay

I’m so near
People live here!

‘Cause I’m going home, Where I belong
And I leave this place behind
I’m going home, leaving alone
‘Cause I left my friend behind
The mountains and rain, mosquitos and pain
Attacked me by surprise
But I did survive this
I should be proud

Interlude
Now It’s time to realise that it’s done, I am going home
To the land where I was born where I should spend my life
With no results, nothing to show to the people I owe
What can I do, without the meteor I should have found
Nothing to show, empty hand, but I’m making new plans

I failed to finish this job, but I will come back again
I must learn the language and live like the natives do
And find what I want, I’ll practise and shall not fall down like Arne, I will survive
Or finish the work of Arne to give him the honour that he deserved.

The time has come, I’m really going home
I’m leaving Finnmark to go where I belong
Or staying here to finish work
Or coming back or leave it all alone

I don’t know
I don’t know at all

‘Cause I’m going home, Where I belong
And I leave this place behind
I’m going home, leaving alone
‘Cause I left my friend behind
Mosquitos and rain caused me some pain
But the missery is behind

I’m going home……
